Claire Shao is an incoming sophomore at Lynbrook High School. She has been very passionate about science, specifically biology and earth science, ever since she discovered it. Claire participated in the Science Olympiad during the school year, which further deepened her interest. She has participated at the state level of competition. Her favorite events include competing in Bio Process Lab, Sounds of Music, Road Scholar, and Anatomy and Physiology. She has won top medals for her events, including 2nd place for Anatomy and Physiology and 3rd place for Bio Process Lab in 2023 California's state finals.
In her free time outside of academics, Claire enjoys drawing and dancing. Because of her interest in biology, she participated in the Junior Duck Stamp Art Contest, a contest held by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service aiming to promote environmental and conservation programs. Her artwork won a 1st place award in its level in 2021 and 2022.
